Good News for Bihar Employees And Pensioners, DA Increased by 2%

DA: If you are a government employee or a pensioner of Bihar, then there is some great news for you. The Bihar government has decided to increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) by 2 percentage points in the state cabinet meeting held on 16 May 2025.

Benefits of an increase in dearness allowance

Employees and pensioners coming under the 7th Pay Commission will now get 55 per cent DA and DR. At the same time, those coming under the 6th Pay Commission will get a total of 252 per cent dearness allowance with an increase of 6 percentage points. Apart from this, the employees and pensioners of the 5th Pay Commission will be given 466 per cent DA and DR by increasing it by 11 percentage points. This increase will be effective from January 1, 2025 and will prove beneficial for more than 5 lakh employees and more than 6 lakh pensioners.

Big relief regarding dearness allowance in West Bengal

Meanwhile, there has been a big relief for the government employees of West Bengal as well. The Supreme Court has directed the state government to pay 25 per cent of the arrears of dearness allowance from 2009 to 2019 in the next three months. This order was given during the hearing on the petition of the West Bengal government, in which the order of the High Court was challenged. After this order, the West Bengal government has said to respect the decision of the Supreme Court.
