Hello friends It’s the end of the road for two of KTM’s entry-level offerings in India. The Austrian bike maker is all set to discontinue the KTM 125 Duke and RC 125 from its lineup. If you’ve been eyeing one of these bikes, now is the time to grab the last few units before they vanish from the showrooms.
Why is KTM Pulling the Plug
The biggest reason behind this decision is simple low sales. While these bikes once captured the attention of young riders looking for an entry into the KTM family, their high price tags eventually became a major hurdle. In January 2024, KTM produced 1,692 units of its 125cc bikes, but by January 2025, that number had plummeted to just 33 units. Sales figures tell an even grimmer story, with only 17 units sold in January 2025 compared to 230 in the same month the previous year.
At their current pricing—Rs. 1,81,030 for the 125 Duke and Rs. 1,91,795 for the RC 125 (both ex-showroom, Delhi)—riders now have far better options. Competitors like the Yamaha R15 V4 and TVS Apache RTR 200 4V offer more power and features at a similar or even lower price point. Adding to this, the KTM 200 Duke costs just Rs. 23,000 more than the 125 Duke but delivers significantly better performance and value.
What’s Next for KTM KTM 125 Duke and RC 125
With the 125cc models making their exit, the KTM 200 Duke will now take the position of the brand’s most affordable offering in India. The move is likely a part of KTM’s larger strategy to streamline its lineup and focus on models that generate stronger sales. The company has been facing financial challenges, and excessive inventory buildup has only added to its woes. By discontinuing the underperforming 125cc range, KTM aims to strengthen its market position with more competitive models.
Is This Goodbye Forever KTM 125 Duke and RC 125
While the 125 Duke and RC 125 are bowing out in India, KTM continues to thrive in the global market. The brand remains committed to performance-focused machines, and its upcoming lineup is expected to bring more excitement for biking enthusiasts. Who knows? We might see a revamped entry-level KTM in the future, possibly at a more competitive price. For now, if you’re a fan of the 125 Duke or RC 125, this is your last chance to own a piece of KTM history before they officially disappear from the market.
